FERNANDA SILVA
Founder of Groovement™ Dance
I am a dance/movement psychotherapist, a performer, choreographer and dance teacher.
I was born in Portugal (1990) and live in Arnhem and Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
In Portugal, I studied at the National Dance Conservatory in Lissabon and then continued my dance studies at ArtEZ University of the Arts as a dancer/maker, and graduated in 2014.
During my journey, I danced for choreographers such as Joeri Dubbe, Jéròme Meyer & Isabelle Chaufaud en Sita Ostheimer.
I was co-founder of the Dance collective Arnhemse Meisjes, made the pieces "Ha ha ha ha" - Christina de Chatel Award-selectie, "Suppressed Dialogues vol. 1", "To React Upon", "Set Setting" and the Mindanbody-serie composed by 4 solo's "Out Of My Mind", "Out Of My Body", "In My Body" en "In My Mind" and a group piece "In Their Bodies".
I give workshops/lessons at (pre)professional (dance) educations and create choreographies for ArtEZ, the Creative Contemporary and Urban department of RijnIjssel in Arnhem and gave a masterclass for Beta Publica Showcase, at Compañía Nacional de Danza - Madrid.
In 2019-2021 I worked together with MOMO Theaterwerkplaats and I keep close collaborations with music, visual arts, inclusion and health care institutions.
My main current job occupation is as a dance/movement therapist at the Mental Health Institution inGeest, with individuals and groups with PTSD and persistent physical complaints.
